NCSA holds awareness workshops marking Safer Internet Day

The National Cyber Security Agency marked Safer Internet Day 2024 with a range of cybersecurity workshops aimed at boosting awareness of the fundamentals of safe use of the internet for various society segments. The workshops underscored NCSA’s preventive strategy that combat cybersecurity risks before evolving into attacks. Ms. Dalal Al-Aqeedi, Director of the National Cyber Excellence Department, said that the agency is steadily striving to keep pace with international developments in the field of cybersecurity and digital safety via awareness activities coinciding with these international events. These efforts enhance Qatar’s position as a leading country in raising cyber security awareness and digital safety concepts. The Safer Internet Day affirms the elevating international interest in the fundamentals of safe use of the internet especially in light with the escalating cyber threats facing governments, institutions, communities and individuals worldwide, she added. The agency also adopts a wide range of events and awareness activities, including programs aimed at students and children, such as “Educational Cybersecurity curricula”, and the "Cyber Eco" program, and is currently working on launching the National Cyber Security Academy and the Digital Safety Strategy, in addition to periodically organizing awareness workshops for government and private entities’ employees who are not specialized in cybersecurity or information technology. First established within the EU countries in 2004, the Safer Internet Day then evolved into an annual worldwide event celebrated on Feb. 7 across 190 countries to raise awareness of a safer and better internet for all.
