NCSA conducts a workshop on "Educational Cybersecurity Curricula" project

On Sunday October 8, 2023, the National Cyber Security Agency held an interactive meeting with more than 300 IT teachers from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education including an introductory workshop on "Educational Cybersecurity Curricula" and "Cyber Eco" projects. The meeting aimed to highlight the importance of “Cyber Eco" initiative which is considered a complementary to the “Educational Cyber Security Curricula” that aim to enhance awareness of cyber safety concepts and values through extracurricular activities within the school environment. The meeting included presenting the curricula project guide and the teacher’s guide which both aim at raising awareness mechanisms and nurturing a digitally safe culture among students of all age groups. In this context, Ms. Maha Al-Ruwaili, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education stressed on the Ministry's commitment to support projects that enhance students' capabilities and increase their awareness of cyber safety concepts and values, noting that all support has been provided to conduct training and awareness workshops within public schools. For her part, Mrs. Dalal Al-Aqeedi, Director of National Cyber Excellence Department at the National Cyber Security Agency said that the “Educational Cyber Security Curricula” project comes within the Agency's endeavor to build a digitally secure and technologically empowered community in line with Qatar Vision 2030. She added; "In light of the successive and rapid technological developments into various aspects of life and the technological security risks facing individuals in general and children and adolescents in particular and based on the vision of the Cyber Security Agency, facing these challenges is through empowering children and adolescents within the school environment with a specialized curriculum that enhances their digital awareness”. She also stressed on the National Cyber Security Agency’s belief on the importance of taking preventive measures to enhance cyber safety and security in order to raise the digital security indicators in the State of Qatar. “The Educational Cyber Security Curricula " which was launched last year, is the first project of its kind in the region with the aim of raising cyber safety awareness for students of all age groups and educational team members. It aims to aid the national educational system with permanent visual cyber awareness content for students from the first grade till the twelfth to nurture a culture of cyber safety and security.
