The National Cyber Security Agency participates in the UN Open-ended Working Group
Mission of the State of Qatar to the UN in New York, is participating in the 7th session of the Open-ended Working Group on the Security of Information and Communication Technology and its Use from March 4th to March 8th ,2024. The agency’s participation focuses on addressing emerging cyber security threats related to Artificial Intelligence as well as building trust and collaborative measures between countries. During the agency’s speech, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Shafi, Director of Cybersecurity Policy & Strategy at the National Cyber Security Agency, emphasized the continuous cooperation with the global team at the United Nations to achieve its desired goals. Al Shafi highlighted the great success achieved by the State of Qatar in hosting the Web Summit, the “largest technology event in the Middle East and Africa”, with the participation of around 15,000 attendees from over 118 countries. This reflects Qatar’s efforts in extending and building bridges of technological cooperation, education and business development, positioning it as a leading destination for technology and innovation in the Middle East. Engineer Al Shafi added that the State of Qatar has launched “Guidelines for the Secure adoption & usage of Artificial Intelligence”, in line with the growing international efforts to establish regulatory frameworks related to the governance of AI to address security vulnerabilities in this field. The guidelines encompass ethical considerations, security, and personal data privacy. He also emphasized that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility that requires the convergence of efforts to work on global standards and guiding principles for responsible use and the development of modern technologies in information security and its applications.Latest News
